I have always been a baseball fan, and I love recreation baseball. My friends joke that for the success my family has enjoyed in recreation baseball, it's odd that my boys migrate into other activities - football, track or drama.

My family has been involved in
Lexington Dixie Baseball since 1996. Our four boys have been contributors on 11 division championship teams and 15 All-Star teams. Each of the boys has been on at least two divison championship and two All-Star teams. They have a combined 372-212 record (.637). Each boy has a cumulative winning record in his LDB participation. William played on two district championship teams and has experienced two state tournaments.
Pictured, left, is me with our youngest son, Matthew (Snook), after our All-Star team won its 2007 sub-district tournament. Snook was the catcher for his 20-0 regular season team and led that team in RBI. The baseball in the foreground is the ball he hit over the left field fence in the tournament's second game.
I began coaching in Jesup, GA in 1983. I have been blessed to have supported my four boys as a parent, scorekeeper, assistant coach or manager. I've had the privilege of coaching, as a head coach, each of my boys for at least two seasons. As a manager, my teams have won three championships and I have a 111-58 record as a Lexington Dixie manager.
I have served as the organizer of the league's Fall Ball program and Vicki has served three years (2004-2007) on the league board. She has served as the league's secretary.
I've written a document containing
short baseball stories from my childhood and coaching days.
