One of the sad commentaries on our society is that individuals are often defined by either employment or residence. Our culture would be so much healthier if we could define people by the love and service they show others. Everything about this world is temporary; the only thing that continues beyond me or you is the influence we have on others. And, so life is really about relationships. And, healthy relationships don't exist without communication.

After 20 years in the newspaper business, God called me to the ministry as a strategic communication consultant. I served as director of marketing for the South Carolina Baptist Convention from 1997-2003, when I left to form Scott Vaughan Communications, LLC. Today, I have a national, ecumenical ministry designed to help churches with communication strategy - building relationships within churches and connecting churches with their communities.
